my favorite books

I first read “A Child Called It” in seventh grade. It was the only one I had to read but I was so interested I had to read the other two books. These books are real and very descriptive. They are about a mother who abuses one of her sons. She was a alcoholic. In the first book she mixes ammonia and bleach in a bucket and put him in the bathroom and shut the door. It was like a gas chamber. She also threw a knife at him and stabbed him, and had told him she read an article about another mom making her child lay across a burning hot stove, and took him in the kitchen, turned on the gas stove and put his arm above the flame. The rest of the family came home or she would have made him put his whole body on the stove. He had to steal food, wear ratty clothes, and go to school with bruises all over him. His dad turned into an alcoholic and separated from his mother. The second book he went through foster homes. The third book he is the military. His father died and his real mom called to let his foster mom know. He got a phone call from his foster mom telling him about his father so he came home and stayed until his dad passed away. He also went to confront his real mom about her not going and seeing his dad in the hospital. He found out that one of his brothers was also in the military.

  1. So, so chilling. Good work with description, Sammy.

Remember, though, that you want to avoid summarizing the plot of your novels. Instead, please focus on your own ideas, reactions, and connections to the events in the story.

  2. I like the books that seem realistic too. Mostly I like supernatural, though.
